Break-through!

DSCF0033.jpg

I like the feel of this shot. It was taken during my time at Huddersfield. The sun is not only breaking through but has caught the leaves, providing a back-drop light that makes them stand out.

Floral imagery

DSCF0004.jpg

DSCF0013.jpg

A couple of pictures I took earlier in the summer at a garden I did some work at. I need to brush up on my horticulture as I am not sure what the second flower is, the first is obviously a poppy!

Weathered wood

DSCF0051.jpg

DSCF0050.jpg

These 2 pictures are of some old wooden posts used on the side of the River Ribble as holding points for boats and ships in the old days when many past going up to the docks at Preston.

The posts are over 100 years old and still stand on the river banks, but severly weathered with time. I find the shapes and colours of the wood interesting.

Harmonious sunset!

sunsett.jpg

I feel this image has a strong emotional level attached to it. It conjures up feelings of calmness, chilled out and harmony. I like the silhouette of the trees and the tonal colours of the sky.

Colours of the Rainbow!

DSCF0023.jpg

The ever familiar rainbow spread out across the sky! I took this shot from my bedroom window! The dark stormy clouds gave the rainbow a perfect back-drop to highlight its colours.

Majorca break!

DSCF0102.jpg

DSCF0105.jpg

Just come back from a weekend break in Majorca! Glad to say the weather was perfect, the drink was flowing and the tan has been topped up! Here are two photos taken on my journey back home this morning. Some of the quality has been lost with shooting through a plane window! I like the depth of the top photo and the thin layer of clouds. The second photo has a certain abstract quality about it.

Sunbathing Swallows & Swifts!!

h.jpg

Not my normal kind of shot but i had to be quiet and quick so as not to scare them! Yesterday morning literally hundreds of Swallows, Swifts and House Martins were circling over the house. They seem to be grouping together before their long migration back before winter arrives. Some were sun-bathing on the roof and were surprisingly quite accepting of me taking their picture!

Mount Snowdon view!

DSCF0052.jpg

This shot is not of Mount Snowdon but another photo taken off Mount Snowdon! Some of the views were breath-taking. It is hard to imagine looking at this picture that we actually climbed higher! You can just see at the bottom how deep the greens go once you get into the valley bottom. The clouds overhead also created some interesting shadows.
