Swan

Swan.jpg

This big fella came swimming over to me as I sat on the waters edge. It then proceeded to peck my shoes and anything else it could reach, including my hand! I took the opportunity to get some close of shots of the swan.

Seagull on nest

Seagul-on-nest.jpg

image was again taken at Conwy Castle; this seagull had made its home in one of the ruined windows of a tower in the castle. The lighting coming through the open window created a wonderful image of a bird on its nest.

Castle

Conwy-Castle.jpg

Another image from Conwy Castle, this time of one of the mighty towers that stands guard over the town of Conwy, North Wales. I have made the image black & white to portray its history and age.

Conwy Castle

Castle-&-sky.jpg

Ok I’ll admit, there’s not much of the castle in frame, but that was the idea! I saw an opportunity of the intriguing cloud formation and added a little more interest by adding a hint of the castle tower.

Dead tree

Dead-tree.jpg

Back from my holiday! Had a great break and got some nice shots, which I will be posting over the coming weeks. To start with, (on a rather dull note I have to admit!) is a picture of a dead tree that was down the lane just where we stayed. I have a fascination about dead trees and I feel they make wonderful subjects for photography with their unusual form and shapes, not to mention the history they represent. I have played around with the colours to reflect more on the sombre image.

Lilly

lilly.jpg

My father is a keen gardener and I enjoy going round to see what I can catch on camera. I especially like this time of year, everything is in full bloom and there are bursts of colour everywhere you look. This lilly flower caught my eye, and I tried to capture it in a different way than expected.

Butterfly

butterfly.jpg

I went for a walk the other night, I came across this butterfly that had settled on a sign. I walked up slowly until I got close to it and managed to get this shot that perfectly captures its beautiful wing patterns.

Grass

grassblog.jpg

I got down low in this shot into the thick of the grass in the hope of an interesting view point. I like how the grass in the foreground is out of focus and dark but the grass in the background is light and crisp. I like to experiment with subjects that seem quite ordinary and common and try to make them look more interesting and creative.
