Pink rose

rose.jpg

I have used the same format but using a Pink Rose as my subject. I like how the image is cropped, I like the intense pinks and greens and I love that the image is so direct in what it is portraying.

Abstract Photography

Card1Front.jpg

Card2Front.jpg

Over the next few entries I am going to post some images that are cropped in the same shape to see how it impacts on the image. I have gone for a long, rectangle shape. This crops alot of the image out and allows the focus to be more direct on the subject. Today’s 2 images are abstract shots; the first is of fire and the second if of sparkles on a water surface.

Perspective

hay1.jpg

Another image of a hay-bail, but I have tried to use perspective to make the image more interesting. The image uses such simple forms of 3 lines and a circle t its most basic form. It is this simplicity that appeals to me and leads to this almost abstract image.

Hay bail

hay2.jpg

Its that time of year when farmers are in full swing in cutting grass. I like the form and texture of hay-bails (without sounding too strange!) and I think they make interesting subjects to photograph.

Fern leaves

Fern-Leaf-Gold.jpg

Another experiment using fern leaves as the subject. I have intentionally made this image out of focus and added a Sepia colour. A strange image that maybe failed to capture what I had in mind, interesting none the less.

Fern leaf in sunlight

Fern-Leaf.jpg

I have added black and white to this image as an experiment. The image itself is strong in colour, yet I wanted to see how the emotion and feeling of the image changed with the change of colour. I wanted the image to be more dramatic, yet even with such a simple subject. I like the contrast of the image and I feel it is quite strong visually.

Waterfalls, Bets-y-coed.

Waterfall.jpg

This image was taken at ‘Swallow Falls’ in Bets-y-coed in North Wales, a quiet but beautiful place. The waterfalls themselves are breath taking, and all the more spectacular on such a wonderful summers day. The way in which the water finds its way down creates multiple waterfalls in an almost surreal place.

Old wooden sign

Old-wooden-sign.jpg

This old wooden sign was by the side of the road, again another interesting subject to myself as I wonder of its history and what the sign use to say. I have changed the image into black and white to reflect its great age. The sky also worked well as a gentle but prominent backdrop.
